Pure Leaf is tapping into a big trend with the debut of its first-ever functional beverage line.
The celebrity-adored beverage brand's refreshing new addition, dubbed Pure Leaf Mental Focus, doubles down on the health benefits of tea with one ingredient: L-theanine, an amino acid that's naturally found in black and green tea leaves and experts say can help fight brain fog and boost mental clarity, reduce anxiety, and even help with sleep.
"Functional drinks are no longer niche. People want products that keep up with their lives," Zach Harris, vice president and general manager of Pepsi Lipton Tea Partnership North America, explained in a statement.

Pure Leaf Mental Focus offers more than just the classic flavors of freshly brewed iced tea, as Harris said, it "delivers great flavor, plus added benefits."

The new recipe features real brewed tea, zero sugar, no calories, 69 milligrams of caffeine per 12-ounce serving (naturally occurring from black tea) and the added amino acids to "help support attention and focus amid everyday distractions," according to the brand. It's being introduced in two fruity, lightly carbonated flavors: Peach and Raspberry.

To help get the word out and celebrate the new permanent addition, Pure Leaf partnered with OlympianJordan Chiles for its debut campaign.
