Former Australian batter Usman Khawaja, who returned to the PSL as a replacement player for the Rawalpindi Pindiz, went on to pick the top five players from this season who impressed him the most. He picked four Pakistani players in that list.
Despite having named so many Pakistani cricketers, which also included current and former international players, Khawaja did not name the likes of Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, or Shaheen Afridi in his list of most impressive cricketers.
He starred for the Rawalpindi Pindiz and played three matches in the season for them. Having played the three games, he amassed 75 runs while scoring a half-century in one of the games. The Pindiz finished last in the points table with just one consolation win this season.
PSL included several new players in this season of the competition, and some truly performed to the best of their abilities. One such player, as per Usman Khawaja, is the Pakistani youngster Sameer Minhas.
Minhas has been part of Pakistan's recent U19 international tournaments and has performed convincingly with the bat. In his debut season for Islamabad United, he scored 349 runs across 11 matches in the season, with three half-centuries.
He averaged 38.77 with a strike rate of 155, which impressed the Australian great. He also reasoned that he is impressive based on his young age, and missing out on a few occasions is the nature of the T20 format.
Khawaja looked impressed with Ali Raza's massive talent.
He then looked highly impressed with the immense talent possessed by the young paceman Ali Raza, who also made his way into his second PSL season after having featured in the Under-19 games for Pakistan.
Playing for the title-winning squad of Peshawar Zalmi, he has played in 14 matches in his PSL career and has picked 22 wickets. In 2025, he played in five matches and picked up 12 wickets, while he also picked up 10 wickets in 2026, while also picking up a hat-trick in this season of the PSL.
Usman Khawaja was impressed by the Pakistan speedster, who was bowling consistently above the 150 km/h mark and was hitting the hard lengths. Raza truly seems a very promising player for Pakistan, considering his prowess just at the age of 18.
Two 30+ players are included in Usman Khawaja's list of impressive players.
After having named two Pakistani youngsters, Usman Khawaja next named Dian Forrestor, the 25-year-old youngster from South Africa. Having amassed 132 runs in the season, he played brilliantly in the games he starred in for the Pindiz.
However, Khawaja also named two big names from the Pakistan international side, Sahibzada Farhan and Iftikhar Ahmed. While he backed Farhan's talent and form to be supreme and ranked him to make an immediate impact in international cricket.
He sarcastically mentioned Iftikhar Ahmed as the other youngster, while the 35-year-old's turnaround and contributions in some of Zalmi's wins truly impressed the Australian. Khawaja was impressed by how Iftikhar played a role with the ball and contributed not only with some wickets but also with some economical overs in the powerplay.
