"I was handed David's script, and I was utterly enthralled. It put me in a spell for weeks after that. And I kind of became obsessed with it. The imagery was ingrained in my brain," said Patel in the 2021 interview.
Patel also said that while he enjoyed working on the film, it was quite exhausting to play Sir Gawain.
"It was a really physically kind of taxing shoot, in the sense that I was in it, and there were long shoot days and short turnovers. And it was cold and damp," said the actor.
Patel clarified that Lowery made sure that the set was "always positive" with his kind, supportive demeanor.
"So as dark or gloomy as the days got, he was this kind of constant source of energy and light," said the Lion star during the Rotten Tomatoes interview. "But we went through some extreme lengths to achieve some of this imagery."
