ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Downtown Rochester’s peregrine falcon family welcomed their first hatchling of the season Thursday morning.
The Genesee Valley Audubon Society shared a photo of the newly hatched chick from RFalconCam.com. The nest box sits on top of the Times Square Building.
A second egg also hatched later in the afternoon Thursday.
The mother laid three eggs this year in April. Peregrine falcons have had a home in this nest box since 1995 as part of an effort to reintroduce the species to the Northeast.
