Henrietta missing over $100,000 in expected cannabis tax revenue, town supervisor says
Town of Henrietta missing six figures in cannabis tax revenue

HENRIETTA, N.Y. — Henrietta’s town supervisor says the town appears to be missing more than $100,000 in tax revenue from cannabis sales.

Stephen Schultz says the town received significantly less than expected during the first and fourth quarters last year. Schultz reached out to the state Department of Taxation to get numbers on the local dispensaries and find a reason for the shortfall, but his request for information was denied.

“That’s the most frustrating part. You know, as someone who, oh, by the way, has to deal with Foil requests that coming to us. It’s especially frustrating when they didn’t give proper reason for denial and they didn’t. In my opinion, handle the appeal properly. And so and then I can’t get them to answer an email. I can’t get them to answer a phone call,” Schultz said.

Schultz says he stopped by three of Henrietta’s six dispensaries to get their numbers for himself. He says those three alone reported paying more in taxes than the town received.
