ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester and Gates Police teams were sent off Wednesday for the Police Unity Tour, a 4-day bicycle ride from New Jersey to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The goal is to honor and raise awareness of officers around the country who’ve died in the line of duty. The sister of Jamieson Ritter was at Wednesday’s send-off.
Ritter is the Webster native who died while serving as an officer in Cleveland in 2024.

“It’s kind of almost bittersweet sometimes because it’s a daily battle and a daily struggle and sometimes things like this can bring up more emotions, but it’s also very beautiful to see everyone coming together and the support and the love, and the backing of police officers, which we need a lot more of,” Angelica Ritter said.
Around 2,100 people are expected to make the ride from New Jersey to D.C.
