ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man has been sentenced to prison for the beating death of a 76-year-old man with dementia.
Peter Scott was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison and five years post-release supervision. Rochester Police say on Dec. 27, 2024, Scott repeatedly hit Valeri Brintev in his head and body on a porch on Norton Street. He was arrested in May 2025 by U.S. Marshals.

Rochester Police said Brintev went onto Scott’s porch because he was confused about where he was. Brintev used a walker and lived nearby.
Scott previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter in March.
