At the top of the hour for the latest episode of Top Chef: Carolinas, Gail Simmons and Kristen Kish informed the seven remaining cheftestants that they would be going on a little road trip to Greenville, South Carolina, this week. They also welcomed season 22 finalist Shuai Wang as the guest judge.
The chefs were informed that for both the Quickfire and Elimination challenge, they would be hosting "The Ultimate Dinner Party." The pre-dinner cocktail hour would be the Quickfire Challenge and the dinner party itself would be the Elimination.

What Were the Challenges on 'Top Chef' Season 23 Episode 9?
For the Quickfire Challenge, the chefs were tasked with creating appetizers featuring Duke's Mayo because Duke's was founded in Greenville. Duyen got to select her dish first because she won Restaurant Wars, then she got to select the next person who picked their dish and so on. The dishes were:

The Elimination Challenge dishes were then picked right after they signed up for the Quickfire. They picked in reverse order for this one. The courses were:
Raw: Jonathan made steak tartare with egg yolk emulsion, cornichon chimichurri, crispy shallots and a toasted baguette slice.Salad: Anthony made heirloom tomato and watermelon salad with a little crab.Soup: Laurence made chicken and corn egg drop soup with marinated bok choy.Seafood: Sherry made poblano peppers stuffed with lobster mousseline and corn ragu with salsa verde.Grain: Duyen made seafood rice with an herb salad and dashi beurre monte.Poultry: Sieger made chicken vesuvio with pea & parmesan puree and potatoes.Red meat: Oscar made short rib sancocho with yuca, butternut squash, carrots and rice.Dessert: Rhoda made Eton Mess, which is meringue with whipped creme fraiche, macerated berries and lemon pith.Related: ‘Tournament of Champions’ VII Finale Live Updates: And the Winner Is…
In the end, the Quickfire winner was Anthony, so he won $10,000. The top dishes from the Elimination Challenge went to Laurence and Jonathan, while the bottom two were Rhoda and Oscar, which was very obvious just from watching the dinner.
The winning dish was Laurence, who will get an advantage next week. The chef eliminated from the competition was Oscar.
