The meeting came during a visit to the offshore rig “Cairo-2” after it completed drilling the exploratory well “Dennis West 1X” in the Mediterranean off Port Said.
Madbouly said that the energy sector is a priority given its role in economic growth. He described cooperation with Eni as productive, with progress in exploration and production, and said Egypt is seeking to expand activity to raise output, meet local demand, and support exports.
For his part, Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawi said that the government is working to encourage further investment and speed up exploration, adding that dues owed to foreign partners will be settled soon.
