ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Around 12:40 p.m. on Sunday, Rochester police said they responded to Epworth Street and Dr. Samuel McCree Way after getting a report of an Amazon van being involved in a crash with a Nissan Rogue. Investigators later found that the Amazon driver was also involved in several other crashes on Sunday.
Police say the crash they responded to was caused by the Amazon driver, who was speeding and going the wrong way down a one-way street.
Investigators determined that the driver of the Nissan, a 23-year-old Chili resident, received minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The passenger in the Nissan, a 23-year-old Rochester resident, also had minor injuries but wasn’t taken to a local hospital, officers say.
The Amazon driver ran from the scene before police arrived, officers added.
Investigators later found that the Amazon driver was involved in a series of other crashes on Sunday. Investigators say around 12:38 p.m., the driver sideswiped another vehicle in the area of Genesee Street and Arnett Boulevard. The victim from that crash had no injuries, according to police.
Then, at around 12:45 p.m., the same Amazon driver sideswiped a person who was on foot on Tacoma Street. The 42-year-old male victim received minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
