ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It’s another great looking but not so great feeling morning in Western New York. Temperatures begin in the low to mid 30s, with frost forming in some areas mainly south of Rochester. Frost will quickly melt as the sun sticks around through midday. Some clouds pop up alongside some light passing showers for this afternoon and evening as highs reach near 50 degrees; a solid 15 degrees below normal. Showers will be mainly south of Rochester.
Tomorrow morning will be even a little chillier than this one with temps in the low 30s. Again it will be a sunny morning though, so any frost that forms won’t last long. And again like today, clouds will form for the P.M. hours. The difference is it will likely be dry for everyone. Some showers may pass north over the lake at or after sunset.
Monday morning we no longer have to worry about the chilly temperatures, as we’ll start in the mid 40s. Some modelling data is suggesting we could reach as high as 70 degrees… Right now it’s more likely we’ll get to the mid 60s, but either way, it will be a HUGE improvement from this weekend. That mild air sticks around for Tuesday, but showers will enter the region in the afternoon.
Starting midweek, a cooler than average pattern sets up which unfortunately will last through the opening weekend of the Lilac Festival, and could even last through the second week of May. It won’t necessarily be uncomfortably cool, since “average” at that time means the upper 60s, but you’ll still need a sweater at times.
