Texas Christian University (TCU) has added Steve Grud and Denys Mialkovskyi as transfers for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Grud arrives from Pitt while Mialkovskyi arrives from Delaware.
Grud just finished his sophomore season at Pitt and swam to numerous lifetime bests at the Ohio State Winter Invite in February. There he swam to a 19.94 50 free, his first sub-20 second swim ever, as well as a 44.01 100 free and a 48.93 100 fly. He did not swim at the 2026 ACC Championships.
Mialkovskyi also just finished his sophomore season and spent two years at Delaware. He finished his season at the 2026 ASUN Championships and was highlighted by lifetime bests in both backstroke events as he was 3rd in the 200 back (1:44.38) and 6th in the 100 back (48.22, 48.09 in prelims).
The TCU men finished 4th out of seven teams at the 2026 Big 12 Championships. The team was led by Filip Suchanski who scored 74 individual points with ‘A’ final appearances in all three of his individual events.
Peter Horton led the team in the 50 free with a 19.31. The only other sub-20 second swimmer this past season was Nigel Forbes (19.79), meaning Grud is a huge boost to the sprint free group. Edgar Cicanci led the team in the 100 back (46.48) while Filip Suchanski led in the 200 back (1:41.69).
Grud would have made the ‘B’ final of the 50 free and the ‘C’ final of the 100 free at the 2026 Big 12 Championships. Mialkovskyi would have made the ‘B’ final of the 200 back and the ‘C’ final of the 100 back.
