ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Frost Advisories are posted across the entire Rochester and Finger Lakes region Saturday morning. We will likely see another round Sunday morning, as temperatures both mornings will drop into the lower half of the 30s. The growing season is just beginning, but if you’re already done some planting or bought some potted plants, you’ll want to bring them in or cover them up if they are sensitive to colder temperatures.
In addition to the cold start to the weekend, we’ll also start with a good amount of sunshine Saturday morning. Some clouds will tend to build during the late morning and afternoon hours as we slowly warm, and there’s the slight chance of a brief passing afternoon shower. Sunday will feature very similar weather, with sunshine and frost to start, and some more afternoon clouds. Both weekend days will top out in the lower 50s, which is about 10-15 degrees cooler than average for early May.
Our cooler pattern will continue beyond the first few days of May. In fact, an upper level trough over the Great Lakes and Northeast may persist through the first few weeks of the month, keeping us cooler than average and a little unsettled with off and on rain showers.
