ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Happy first day of May! Unfortunately, the next few mornings will be feeling more like November with lows in the low to mid 30s. A frost advisory is in effect until 9am today, and almost certainly there will be another for Saturday and Sunday morning. Bring any sensitive plants inside if you have them; these include tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, eggplants, beans, and melons.
Frost will quickly melt this morning as there will be abundant sunshine, but clouds will move in by midday. Rain is expected during the afternoon, mainly south of Rochester. Highs will be in the upper 40s.
Saturday we start off frosty again with lows in the mid 30s, then we get up to the low 50s with more chances for showers in the afternoon and evening. Sunday is essentially a repeat though rain may be focused more towards the north. But overall, it’s today that will see the most rain.
Numerous chances for rainfall throughout next week, and many days will see below average temperatures. We expect the start of the Lilac Festival to still be cooler than normal, but check back in for updates on any rain during the festival.
