Frankel said, “We didn’t want to simply return to the same characters, but to see how the years had changed them. Every character here has a history, and their past decisions still affect them. So we wanted to feel that time had truly passed, and that each character had paid the price for their choices.”
Heightened Realism
He added that the story became more realistic and intense, focusing on the professional and personal pressures the characters face after years of success.
Frankel also revealed that he was careful to maintain the fast pace and sharp dialogue that characterized the first film, adding, “We tried to make every scene carry more weight, not only visually, but also in terms of meaning.”
“The biggest challenge was striking a balance between nostalgia for the original film and delivering a fresh experience. The audience has a strong emotional connection to the first film, and we had to respect that without repeating ourselves.”
Regarding working again with the stars of the first film, he said, “Returning to work with this team was a great pleasure; there’s a clear chemistry, but at the same time, each actor brought a different vision to their character after all these years.”
