Now that the tenth and final episode of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 has been released on Apple TV, thoughts will no doubt turn to whether there will be further seasons in the Monsterverse show.
Of course, we know the franchise will continue - a new big screen adventure, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, is set to be released in 2027.

Will there be a Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 3?
We don't yet know whether Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will be returning for a third season, as the show is yet to be officially renewed.
However, we do know that at least one of the characters will be returning, as Apple TV has already confirmed that the show will be getting a spin-off.
It was announced in December 2025 that Wyatt Russell would be reprising his role as Colonel Lee Shaw in a new untitled Young Lee Shaw prequel.
The spinoff will follow the story of Colonel Lee Shaw, an American operative who, in 1984, went on a secret mission behind enemy lines in an attempt to stop the Soviets from unleashing a horrific new Titan big enough to destroy the US and turn the tide of the Cold War.
At the same time, it was also confirmed that screenwriter and producer Joby Harold, who will act as showrunner for the prequel series, will also be overseeing Legendary’s entire Monsterverse franchise for Apple TV - suggesting new additional shows, and potentially more seasons of Monarch, could be on the way.
We will likely hear more about whether Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will return for a third season when we know more about how these plans for a wider expansion of the Monsterverse franchise on Apple TV will play out.
When would a potential Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 3 be released?
It's hard to say when a third season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters would be released, given that the show hasn't actually been renewed yet.
If the series were to return, we would expect there to be a fairly substantial wait for new episodes. The series is big and effects heavy, with A-list stars who likely have difficult schedules to wrangle.
It also seems likely that we would get the Young Shaw spin-off first, delaying thing even further. There was already a wait of over two years between seasons 1 and 2, so we would imagine that the earliest we could get to see season 3 would be in three years time, in 2029.
Of course, this is just speculation at this point, and we will make sure to update this page as and when we get any more concrete information regarding the show's future.
Who would return to star in a potential Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 3?
If Monarch: Legacy of Monsters were to return for a third season, we would expect most if not all of the central characters from season 2 to return.
This means the likes of Kurt Russell, his son Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett and Anders Holm could all be back.
