PARMA, N.Y. — Monroe County sheriff’s deputies say they took a man into custody on Thursday after he had a mental health crisis at a home in Parma.

Deputies closed down West Avenue between Collamer Road and Heinz Street for the investigation, but it has reopened. The sheriff’s office says there is no threat to public safety and this is an isolated incident.

    It took deputies about 50 minutes to take the man into custody. Deputies responded to the home around 11:50 a.m. and worked to create a perimeter. After that, they made contact with the man in his 20s to “de-escalate the situation.”
