Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Arshdeep Singh has made an explosive claim during an interaction amid the IPL 2026 season. Arshdeep stated that there are many people out there, including the cricket experts and commentators, who like seeing PBKS suffering.
Arshdeep Singh’s comments came after PBKS’ first defeat in the ongoing season. In their previous match, they got defeated by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Tira, Himachal Pradesh.
In an online discussion with a PBKS fan, the star bowler of the Punjab Kings and Team India claimed that even some of the commentators are clearly against the franchise. Singh believes that they, the haters of PBKS, might have celebrated the defeat of the Punjab Kings against the Rajasthan Royals on April 28.
“If you heard the commentators, they were not happy when we were claiming back-to-back wins. There are many people out there who don’t want to see us in a good position. As we had to suffer a defeat in our last match, they got a chance to celebrate and criticize us,” Arshdeep Singh said.
Another PBKS star, Yuzvendra Chahal, was also there in the video, nodding his head in support of Singh’s allegations.

Arshdeep sustained an economy rate of 17.00 vs RR
On April 28, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium, Punjab Kings, the home team for the match, posted 222 runs in 20 overs in exchange for only 4 overs. It was a good score, and in the second innings, they had the chance to defend the total as well. In the mid-phase of the run chase, the Rajasthan Royals lost multiple wickets in short intervals and allowed the Kings to make the contest more competitive.
Despite losing multiple crucial wickets, the young batters of the Royals, Donovan Ferreira (52 not out off 26) and Shubham Dubey (31 not out off 12), secured a vital win for the Rajasthan Royals. Dubey came to bat as an impact sub.
Arshdeep Singh is among the top talents in Twenty20 cricket, who has no in his prime so far in IPL 2026. The 27-year-old has so far claimed only 8 wickets in 8 matches at an economy rate of 10.96. Against the Rajasthan Royals, he cost 17 runs on average. In total, the seamer leaked 68 runs in 4 overs against only one wicket. Former spinner criticizes the PBKS pacer
“One or two games, you can expect him (Arshdeep Singh) to do badly, but this is happening most of the time. He is a bowler who is known for his wicket-taking abilities. When he picks wickets with the new ball, he tends to bowl well.
"It is a cause for concern because if you look at the larger picture, such a performance in the playoff game can affect the team,” former Team India spinner Piyush Chawla stated, the Punjab pacer, while talking on ESPN Cricinfo, after the Punjab Kings vs Rajasthan Royals match.
