My daughters and I recently had the pleasure of reviewing the Cinnamoroll Ornata V3 TENKEYLESS keyboard. They were excited to have a fun, yet functional keyboard that meshed with their interests, without appearing to be too sciency, futuristic, techie, or STEM driven. Instead, the company products felt more lighthearted, animal-favoring, anime-favoring, and in general softer. We appreciated the pastel blue upon white base, the pastel pink cheek and tongue accents, and wispy, inviting, uplifting vibe. With such a positive experience, they were excited to discover that there was a mouse mat and mouse that matched the Ornata V3 Keyboard.
Mouse Mat Packaging
The Cinnamoroll Gigantus V2 soft gaming mouse mat arrived in a cute 11 1/2-inches-long by 3 1/8-inches-tall by 3 1/4-inches-wide rectangular package. The main cover panel listed the company name at the top left, product name along the bottom left and a large oblique image of the mousepad. I liked the child-friendly, cartoon animal and cloud theme, inviting sky blue/white color scheme, and overall product feel. The front panel listed the company name within a large white cloud and provided an open window cutout to see/feel the polyester surface. The back panel showed a photo-quality image of the Cinnamoroll RAZER Cobra mouse upon the mouse pad, listed four product features (textured micro-weave cloth surface for speed/control, thick, high-density rubber foam for greater consistency and durability, optimized and lab-tested for pixel-precise accuracy, and anti-slip base to keep the mat in place), and listed product specifications. The mousepad measured 360mm wide by 25mm long by 3mm thick, weighed 160 grams, and was made of 100% polyester fabric and rubber foam. The final large side panel repeated the product features upon a white background. The bottom panel displayed a barcode, product manufacturing labels, icons, and trademark information. Lastly, the top panel had a white nylon hanging loop.
Unboxing/testing
I unrolled the 14-inch wide by 10 3/4-inch tall by 1/8-inch thick mouse mat and laid it adjacent to the Ornata V3 Keyboard. I was impressed with the wetsuit-like feel, the soft textured surface, and bouncy resistance. Even though there were only four simple colors, the dark blue detail outline, light blue sky, white clouds, and pastel pink cheek/tongue provided a fun, jovial image of a cute, cartoony animal sitting amongst clouds. The black-colored, rubberized rear panel was made of geometric, hexagonal slightly-raised elements, which provided a sticky, anti-slip surface. You will find a RAZER tag accent label stitched into the top right panel. I liked the dark blue/white color scheme and found the accent blended nicely with the panel. The mouse mat had an easy-to-wipe-down surface and provided an optimal surface for mouse use, enhancing sensitivity compared to the plastic table used for the kids’ workstation.
Mouse Packaging
The RAZER Cobra customizable gaming mouse arrived in a 3 7/8-inches-wide by 6 1/8-inches-tall by 1 3/4-inches-thick hanging style package. The cover panel listed the Cinnamoroll name at the top left, a RAZER Chroma RGB sticker at the top left, a raised product logo at the top right, product name along the lower left, fun animal image at the bottom right, and a large image of the mouse in the middle of the panel. The left side panel displayed three product features (58g lightweight design, RAZER optical mouse switches Gen-3, 8500 DPI optical sensor), product requirements (USB-A port, windows 10 —but or newer, internet connectivity for software updates), and specifications (length 119.6mm/4.71in, width 62.5mm/2.46in, height 38.3mm/1.50in, weight 58g/2.04oz). The right side panel listed the Cinnamorroll name in vibrant blue font, upon a white/blue backdrop. The rear panel listed six product features upon a labeled image of the mouse (RAZER speediflex cable, precise sensor adjustments, 58g lightweight design, 100% PTFE mouse feet, chroma lighting with gradient afterglow, Razer optical mouse switches gen-3). The panel’s lower section and bottom panel listed several product icons/labels, and barcodes. The packaging matched the Cinammoroll theme and provided an inviting feel.
Cobra Mouse Testing/Review
I opened the top panel of the box and removed the tan cardboard tray, and black instruction manual. I removed the 3-ounce mouse from the cardboard tray, and then unhooked the 1/2-inches-wide by 2 5/8-inches-long white-silicone cable strap. The mouse had a standard USB-A connector (with cap), a 1/2-inches-long by 1/4-inches-diameter USB-A neck segment, a generous, 72-inches-long braided-nylon (paracord-like) cable, and a 9/16-inches-long by 1/4-inches-diameter mouse neck segment. The mouse had dual 1-inches-wide by 2 1/2-inches-tall trapezoidal main buttons with dark blue outlined white and blue clouds. Between the left/right main buttons, you will find a central 5/16-inches-diameter scroll wheel and a 1/2-inch-long by 1/8-inch-wide midline button. I liked the central glossy white plastic accents between the left/right main buttons and the main body’s imagery. There are two trapezoidal thumb buttons along the mouse’s left side. Each button measured 3/16-inches tall by 5/8-inches-long along the top and 1/2-inches-long along the bottom.
I plugged the USB-A cable into the USB-A port on my son’s ROG Zephyr laptop and placed my hand onto the mouse. The left/right top buttons had a slightly concave surface and comfortably cradled my pointer and ring fingers, while my middle finger rested atop the scroll wheel. The mouse buttons 4 and 5 at the left side of the mouse were positioned appropriately for access by my thumb. When I compared the posture and position of the mouse with my hand and those of my 11 year-old daughter, 14-year-old son, and 17-year-old son, I found that the buttons remained accessible. My 7 year-old was able to use the left button, right button, and scroll wheel but could not easily access the left 5. The DPI button, located just behind the scroll wheel, shifted the dots per inch to 400, 800, 1600, 3200, and 6400. The instruction manual noted that 1600 DPI was the default, which is typically the optimal position for most users’ preferences. Depending on your monitor size/resolution, you may want to change to 800DPI. Anything above 1600 DPI is likely super specialized and beyond the scope of the mouse’s design and intended audience.
If you are looking for a quick-play, plug-and-play mouse, the Razer Cobra will fit your need. Simply plug the mouse in and enjoy standard mouse functionality for the left button (select/click/drag), right button (properties), scroll wheel (page navigation), and DPI buttons. If you want to program the scroll click, Button 4, or Button 5, you will need to use the RAZER Synapse App to link the button combination. I downloaded the app, created an account by entering a gamer name, location, birthdate, and email address. The app navigated through a Captcha Key puzzle before finalizing the account creation and sending a verification email. I navigated to my email, verified the account, created the account, and then started the 84MB download.
I liked the optical laser sensitivity, the gliding feet, and the crisp/responsive buttons. We left the DPI at its baseline state and found it was the optimal setting for responsive action. The mouse may be a bit lightweight for some, but it worked well for our needs. Beyond the features of the Cobra mouse, the main draw was the light, fun aesthetic Cinnamoroll theme. I believe that the mouse provides a fair and balanced performance, reliable buttons, smooth gliding action, and accurate sensors/clicks, without being overly loud or cumbersome. Paired with the theme and overall design, the price-to-feature ratio is favorable. My only critique was with the Speedflex cable. At times, the long, lightweight cable moved smoothly and provided a near wireless experience. At other times, the cable bunched or snagged, requiring me to lift it to reposition it for continued utility. Despite the limitations, I suspect the mouse offers more than enough quality features for the average user.
App
The app immediately recognized the Cobra Cinamoroll edition mouse and provided a labeled, programmable diagram of the mouse: left click, right click, scroll up, scroll down, scroll click, and mouse buttons 4 and 5. Select the desired button and then scroll through the various options to reprogram the button. You can change to a keyboard function, mouse function to include double clicking, change the sensitivity, create a macro, switch profiles, switch chroma effects (download chroma studio), launch a program or a website, multimedia volume up or down, etc. While playing the Marvel Rivals game, my 17-year-old tried to link the mouse button 4 to the R key to reload, and the melee attack to mouse button 5. He tried to link the button 4 and 5 to the E/C keys to ascend/descend for the Iron Man character, but after he had practiced with the keyboard, he settled on the buttons 4 and 5 for ability 4 (Shift) and 5 (F) for Bucky.
Conclusion
The RAZER Cobra mouse will provide a simple plug-and-play experience for those not Interested in advanced functionality. You can use the left button, right button, scroll wheel, and adjust the mouse cursor speed/accuracy with the DPI button, without any additional steps or tech know-how. However, for those interested in more customization, the App will allow you to adjust the buttons’ functions. Pair the Cinnamoroll mouse and mousepad with the keyboard and headset to complete the theme. You can buy the Razer Cobra mouse ($69.99) by itself or in combo with the Gigantus V2 ($99.98).
