Lang, 24, had been retained on a futures contract in February. The 6-foot-4, 254-pound tight end made two stops on the organization’s practice squad after initially visiting for a workout last September, signing in October and re-signing in December.
Entering the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the Seattle Seahawks in 2025, Lang spent time on the practice squad of the eventual Super Bowl LX champions in between transactions at Gillette Stadium last season. A Northwestern product, his collegiate career brought 48 receptions for 491 yards and four touchdowns. He appeared in 52 games for the Wildcats, including 21 starts, dating back to 2020.
Nine selections were made by New England over the course of the 2026 NFL draft. Since then, the club’s list of reported undrafted signings has stretched to 11.
With the offseason workout program underway and rookie minicamp ahead in May, the tight end depth chart stands with Hunter Henry, Julian Hill and C.J. Dippre, plus Notre Dame’s Eli Raridon at No. 95 overall and Illinois’ Tanner Arkin as a UDFA addition.
