Local barber talks about getting ready to do a 24-hour haircut marathon
A local barber is gearing up for another marathon fundraiser. Stacy “Quick” Hardy, known in the community as Quick the Barber, will cut hair for 24 hours straight. Every dollar raised will go toward purchasing bikes for kids in the area. Hardy is the owner of Quick’s Mane Event.
Hardy said he will start cutting hair on Friday, starting at 8 a.m.
He made headlines last November when he held a similar 24-hour event to raise money for Thanksgiving baskets.

Podcast host gives advice to high schoolers who are unsure about their future
Lynette talks with Leah Leverich, who hosts a podcast called Decision Day.
Leverich took an unconventional path to her career by choosing not to attend college. She will share advice for high school seniors who are undecided about their futures as Decision Day approaches.

Nonprofit CEO talks about an upcoming event for those who aspire to make it into the NFL
Greg Hopkins, CEO of the nonprofit Changing the Community, will discuss an upcoming event for football hopefuls. The CTC Jamboree on May 11 will bring 30 college football scouts to Rochester to look for talent.
Hopkins founded the organization to help aspiring players get noticed by scouts and potentially earn a shot at the NFL.

Chairman of the Gamma Iota Boule Foundation discusses an upcoming recognition luncheon, scholarships to be awarded
Dr. Matt Augustine, EDD, chairman of the Gamma Iota Boule Foundation, will talk about the details of the foundation’s 10th annual recognition luncheon. The foundation will award 14 scholarships at the event, including a new scholarship honoring the late community icon Midge Thomas.
The scholarship will support students interested in the trades.
