Former Alabama linebacker Anfernee Jennings has spent his entire six-year career with the New England Patriots, appearing in Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks.
In 2026, he’ll likely be putting on a new uniform.
According to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Jennings is “expected to sign” with the New Orleans Saints. No terms of the deal are known at this point.
Jennings, who won a pair of national championships with the Crimson Tide, was a third-round draft pick in 2020 after an All-SEC season. As a rookie, he played in 14 games with four starts and made 20 tackles.
After sitting out the 2021 campaign due to injury, Jennings returned in 2022, making 27 tackles in 16 games. Over the next two seasons, he emerged as a full-time starter with the Patriots. He posted 66 tackles in 2023 while starting in all but three games. That offseason, he signed a three-year, $12-million extension.
In 2024, Jennings set a career high with 78 stops while starting in 16 games. During the 2025 regular season, he made 14 appearances despite starting just three games and made 26 tackles. He went on to start all but one of the Patriots’ playoff games, including Super Bowl LX, where he made six tackles.
After his release, Jennings has now appeared to find a new home in the Big Easy. He’ll join a Saints squad that went 6-11 in Kellen Moore’s first season as head coach.
