In match no.38, it was a thriller at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow, between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Coming to chase, LSG opener Mitchell Marsh was back early, and then Aiden Markram and Rishabh Pant stitched a partnership in between, but Cam Green dismissed Markram, and then Sunil Narine picked the dangerous Pant for the score of 42 runs.
Nicholas Pooran walked back after being dismissed for another poor score of nine runs. The wickets continued to tumble, with the penultimate KKR vs LSG match hero, Mukul Choudhary, bowled for one run. Ayush Badoni returned after scoring 24 runs, as the Super Giants' dreams were dashed as LSG needed 17 off the final over.
But Kartik Tyagi gave away 16 runs in the final over, as he bowled two no-balls and a six off the final delivery struck by Mohammed Shami. The match went for a super over.
Narine used all his experience and bowled brilliantly, picking up the wicket of Pooran on the first ball, and then, on the third ball, Markram was dismissed, with Rovman Powell and Rinku Singh taking a brilliant combined catch. Two runs are needed in the super over. Rinku smacked four of the first balls.

Rishabh Pant was smiling after the match and was not happy with how they failed to chase the target of 156 runs. He said that the team needs a break in order to fresh up the minds of the players in the squad.
Rishabh Pant said, "We definitely need a break. We are going to refresh. It is going to be a pressure game always. We need to take accountability - each and every guy. It has to be about the entire team."
"(On Pooran) We had a discussion. The name that came up was Nicky P. He is not in the best form of his life but you have to trust your player to come up. There might not be enough positives right now but after the break, there will surely be (enough positives)."
