Texas A&M basketball is on a roll on the recruiting trail. The Aggies and head coach Bucky McMillan added a commitment from former Loyola Marymount transfer Jalen Shelley on Sunday.
Shelley has some brief history with the SEC. He was originally committed to Arkansas before head coach Eric Musselman took the job at USC. Shelley followed Musselman and played his freshman season with the Trojans before transferring to Loyola Marymount at the start of this year.
While he played sparingly is first season, Shelley posted a strong sophomore year with Loyola. He posted 13.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, hitting 45.7% of his shots from the field. He’s not much of a threat from range but drew 5 fouls per 40 minutes and hit free throws at a solid 70% clip while hitting 54% of his shots from within the 3-point arc.
Shelley earned an All-WCC Honorable Mention for his sophomore season.

Shelley is the 5th transfer addition of the offseason for Texas A&M hoops. He joins Cade Phillips (Tennessee), PJ Haggerty (Kansas State), Lukas Walls (Radford), Jalen Reece (LSU) and Tyshawn Archie (McNeese). While not a traditional transfer, the Aggies also added former G-League guard Bryson Warren, who is awaiting an eligibility ruling by the NCAA.
