PENN YAN, N.Y. — On Friday, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Wabash and Kashong Switch roads in the Town of Seneca for a two-car accident. One driver in the crash was later airlifted to a local hospital for severe injuries, deputies reported.
Deputies say Alexander Hathaway, 33, was driving east on Kashong Switch Road when he drove through a stop sign, leading to a crash with another Penn Yan driver, 32-year-old Jennifer Pym, who was driving south on Wabash Road.
When deputies got to the scene, the female driver was found unconscious with severe injuries, OCSO said. She was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital.
The male driver was taken to the same hospital, but by ambulance after complaining of overall pain from the crash, OCSO added.
According to deputies, he was given a traffic ticket due to driving through the stop sign.
The roadway was closed, but has since reopened.
