A train derailment at the Howard CTA station in Chicago prompted a large emergency response and the suspension of three train lines on Thursday afternoon.
Around 6 p.m., officials with the Chicago police and fire departments as well as the Chicago Transit Authority could be seen responding to the Howard CTA station, located at 7519 N. Paulina St. in the city’s Roger’s Park neighborhood, video showed.
Aerial video captured by NBC Chicago Sky 5 showed dozens of officials on the tracks surrounding a train that appeared to be derailed.
Authorities said all passengers were removed from the train and no injuries were reported.
As of 5:35 p.m., Red Line trains were not running between Howard and Thorndale due to “track conditions,” according to CTA. Purple Line service was suspended between Howard to Linden in both directions and the Yellow Line was suspended from Howard to Skokie in both directions.
Shuttle buses will be available to riders to provide connecting service through the affected area, CTA said.
“We are working to restore service as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding,” CTA said on its website. “Allow extra travel time.”
