Evanston police are investigating a shooting that took place in a park in the northern suburb, urging residents to avoid the area as the response also put a nearby school on lockdown Thursday afternoon.
According to police, the shooting took place just before 1 p.m. at Mason Park.
No one was injured, but Evanston Township High School was placed on a “precautionary soft lockdown” as a result.
Police asked residents to avoid the area.
“This is an active investigation,” the department wrote in an alert on social media.
