Then Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma stitched a partnership of 73 runs as the latter was dismissed on the score of 37 runs, as Akeal picked his third of the match.

The Mumbai side went down like nine pins as they lost four wickets in the span of four runs, after the loss of Suryakumar Yadav, who was the leading scorer with 39 runs, and the wickets kept falling for the five-time winners. Shardul Thakur, who came in as a concussion substitute for Mitchell Santner, could only score 6 runs as MI were bowled out for 104 runs.
