As the Michael Jackson biopic makes its way to cinemas, questions have already arisen around whether there could be a follow-up movie exploring more of the musician's life.
Michael, which opens in UK cinemas today (22 April), charts the rise to fame of the late singer from his early beginnings as a member of the Jackson 5 in Gary, Indiana to a global superstar with releases like Off the Wall and Thriller.
However, the movie abruptly comes to a close in 1988 as Michael Jackson embarks on his Bad solo tour, leaving two decades of his life and career yet to be brought to life on the silver screen.
But could there be a sequel? Read on to find out what those closest to the movie have had to say about a potential second film and what it could cover.
Will there be a sequel to the Michael Jackson biopic?
It has not been confirmed if a second Michael Jackson biopic is in the works, though there have been plenty of hints from those involved in the production of Michael that it could be on the cards.
It was first reported by Puck News that a follow-up movie was being considered, though this was never confirmed by Lionsgate.
Late last year, Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate's Motion Picture Group, said (via The Hollywood Reporter) that while the studio wasn't "ready to confirm plans for a second film" he could confirm that the creative team was "hard at work making sure that we’re in a position to deliver more Michael soon after we release the first film".
Ahead of the movie's release, Jaafar Jackson shared with Entertainment Tonight that a sequel is "in the early development right now".

If a sequel to Michael was made, it could chart the musician's later four albums, including Bad, Dangerous, HIStory and Invincible.
Michael concludes in 1988, as Jackson embarks on his solo tour for Bad before the credits begin to roll, leaving room to dive deeper into the album, which produced singles like I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Man in the Mirror, Dirty Diana and The Way You Make Me Feel.
It is also possible a second movie could address the sexual abuse allegations made against Jackson in 1993.
It has been reported that much of the initial third act of Michael was "devoted to the scandal", but this was scrapped after attorneys for the Jackson estate discovered there was a clause in a settlement with one of the accusers, Jordan Chandler, that prevented any depiction or mention of him in any movie. This led to a new ending being filmed.
In 2005, Jackson was tried and acquitted for further allegations and charges.
