The baseball season is in full ‘swing’ and one player just got something better than a home run. Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman and his wife, Chelsea, just welcomed their fourth child.
The journey to fatherhood wasn’t exactly easy for Freeman. MLB player Freeman and his wife of 11 years now have four children. The couple’s eldest child, Frederick Charles Fremman II, was born in 2016, making him nine years old. Their second son, Brandon John Freeman, followed four years later (in 2020). Maximus Turner Freeman arrived two months later, via surrogate.
In 2021, Freeman opened up to ESPN about the rocky road to becoming a parent. “Every pregnancy and fertility journey is a little bit different for everyone, and we wanted to respect our surrogate’s privacy as well.” He continued, “We tried for a couple of years, and it didn’t happen. We were talking with doctors, and they suggested surrogacy. We jumped at that, because we wanted to be blessed with more kids.” And they certainly were!
Freddie Freeman’s Newborn Baby Arrived Via Surrogate
Like Max, the newest addition to the family was also through surrogacy. Freddie and Chelsea recently announced their baby news, sharing a cute carousel of photos on Instagram with the caption, “London Rosemary Joy Freeman. April 19, 2026.” Little London’s middle name, Rosemary Joy, is a loving tribute to Freeman’s late mother.

We are incredibly grateful for the amazing woman helping bring our baby into our lives, and we’re choosing to honor her privacy as we walk this chapter.”

Is Freddie Freeman Still On the Dodgers’ Paternity List?
Having a baby is a big deal. Even sports stars need a few days off to welcome a new child. Enter the paternity list. The list is exactly what the name implies. It’s a roster of players who will miss games due to the birth of a child. The MLB allows players on this list to take between one and three games off from the regular season.
Freeman was placed on the L.A. Dodgers paternity list on April 19. According to an MLB statement, he missed two games and was reinstated on April 21.
