Monroe County public golf courses open
Monroe County’s three public golf courses, Durand Eastman, Genesee Valley, and Churchville, will open for the season on Tuesday.
People can now book tee times and get season passes on the Monroe County Park website. You can get a free permit for discounted green fees if you’re 62 or older, 17 and under, an active military member, a veteran, or a golfer with a physician-certified disability. You can visit the pro shop at any county course to ask about a free permit.
Because of wet conditions, driving ranges are still closed. They will open once the weather permits. All three courses will offer golf lessons, tournaments, and leagues this year.
Party in the Park lineup reveal
We’ll find out on Tuesday which artists will perform at the 29th annual Party in the Park. Rochester leaders will make the announcement at 1:30 p.m.
Last year, the concert series brought local and national artists to the stage at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park on Thursday nights in July and August. It ran for six weeks, opening with The Seven Wonders and Highway Boys.
Rochester City Council meeting
Rochester City Council will meet on Tuesday night to discuss proposed legislation and to vote. It starts at 6 p.m. at Rochester City Hall on State Street.
This week’s agenda includes some proposed changes to zoning maps, approval of property sales, and funding for festivals. It also includes proposals to strengthen lead paint inspection requirements in high-risk areas, authorize an agreement for the High Falls Business Improvement District, fund trash removal for the East and Alexander Entertainment District, and authorize a professional services agreement to renovate the playground at MLK Park.
