Netflix has revealed the full cast for its upcoming Gundam film, including Sydney Sweeney, Noah Centineo and Harry Potter legend Jason Isaacs.
The adaptation of the iconic anime follows a group of mecha pilots on different sides of a long fought war across Earth and its space colonies.
"As shifting allegiances and a growing threat set them on a collision course for one another," reads the films synopsis, "they’re pulled into a high-stakes race across the stars that could define the fate of humanity.
"With awe-inspiring battles, intimate human emotion, and an epic cinematic scale, this is Gundam like it’s been seen before."
The original anime, Mobile Suit Gundam, released in 1979, redefined the mecha anime genre and spawned a franchise that would go on to include numerous films, anime, games and more.
Alongside Sweeney, Centineo and Isaacs, the cast also includes Jackson White, Shioli Kutsuna, Nonso Anozie, Michael Mando, Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Ida Brooke and Gemma Chua-Tran.
Gundam continues a remarkable hot-streak for both Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo.
Following on from the success of The Housemaid, Sweeney returned to the small screen for the third season of Euphoria earlier this month.
Centineo is also set to star in the upcoming Street Fighter adaptation and has been cast to play a younger version of the iconic John Rambo in a prequel film alongside David Harbour.
Directed by Jim Mickle of Sweet Tooth fame, Gundam marks the latest anime adaptation to come to Netflix after the hit One Piece series, which just dropped its second season earlier this year.
Gundam is in production now, though the film doesn’t yet have a release date. Here’s hoping we get to see those ‘awe-inspiring battles’ and ‘epic cinematic scale’ in a movie theatre when the film does come out.
