Dylan Carlson is Back in the Cubs Org and Playing at Iowa

Last week, the resolution of outfielder Dylan Carlson’s DFA went like this: he cleared waivers (i.e., no one wanted to take his $2 million-ish contract), he was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa, he declined that assignment, and he became a free agent. From there, the possibilities were that he would sign somewhere else that he felt offered him a better path to big league playing time, or he could sign a new minor league deal with the Cubs (while keeping his original payday).

Well, it looks like he went with the latter option after perhaps not finding greener grass out there. Carlos is back in the Cubs organization and he’s reported to Iowa:

That was Carlson’s only hit of the game as the team’s DH for the day, but good to see he’s available in the organization as extre depth.

Carlson joins Kevin Alcantara, Chas McCormick, Brett Bateman, and Justin Dean as the primary outfielders at Iowa.
