ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Wet weather didn’t bother runners and walkers at the Rochester River Run.
The event was held at Genesee Valley Park and raised funds in support of patients who are awaiting or recovering from organ transplant surgery at Strong. People signed up by themselves or in teams to support the cause.
The co-chair of the River Run said recipients, their families and donor families came out.
“This event itself, we’re gonna raise money to help those families that are undergoing transplantation at our hospital at Strong, and we are here to try and help raise funds to help them. Whatever they need help with, whether it be transportation, medications, housing, whatever those things are in the middle of this crisis. so we’re happy to do that. And we’re happy really happy that we’re here today again to celebrate this,” said Judy Gierlach, co-chair of Rochester River Run.
More than a thousand people participated. One donor family had the chance to meet their donor recipient at the River Run.
