Target car seat trade-in event begins Sunday, company says

Parents who need to grab a new car seat for their children are being offered a chance to trade in their old car seats at Target stores.

According to the company, its bi-annual car seat trade-in event kicked off on Sunday, offering parents the ability to recycle old car seats and to receive discounts toward new merchandise.

“Families trust Target to be there for them during life’s biggest milestones,” Amanda Nusz, senior VP of merchandising, essentials and beauty, said in a statement. “With Car Seat Trade-In, we’re making it easier for busy parents to get high-quality, thoughtfully designed products for their little ones while easily recycling what they no longer need and saving on what comes next.”

The promotion runs through May 2, according to Target officials.

As part of the program, guests can bring in a car seat to a participating store and receive a 20% Target Circle bonus to use on new baby items.

Select stores will have giveaways, samples and other events on April 25 and 26, according to the company.

The program has helped recycle more than 58 million pounds of material since its inception a decade ago, according to Target. That includes using recycled resin that the company has implemented into a variety of products.
