ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We are tracking a very strong, well defined cold front which will cross Western New York this evening. First, this will bring some rain, a few downpours, gusty winds with maybe some lightning for this early Saturday evening. At this time, there is a very low risk of severe storms, and as a result, the News10NBC threat tracker will remain green.
Second, as this cold front moves through, there will be a significant drop to the temperature. You can anticipate the temperature to fall by more than 30 degrees in 24 hours as Sunday will remain in the low to middle 40s.
Third, it will be cold enough for a mix of scatted rain and wet snow showers. No accumulation is expected during the daylight hours, but later by Sunday night you can expect all snow showers with the potential for a coating of accumulation on grassy surfaces by Monday morning. The very chilly weather will last through the day on Monday, in fact, the temperature will remain near 40 degrees most of the day.
However, the work week will slowly improve with more sunshine Tuesday and Wednesday. On both days the temperature will moderate through the 50s.
