Naturally, the Arizona Diamondbacks ended a nine-games-in-nine-days road trip on the East Coast with extra innings against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, but they made it count.
In a back-and-forth game where the lead changed seemingly every inning, the Diamondbacks pulled out another clutch win, 8-5, in 10 innings to earn a 6-3 record on the road trip.
Arizona won two of three games in all three series at the New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and Orioles, improving to 11-8 on the year (11-5 since the opening series).
The Diamondbacks’ 11 wins since March 30 are the most in MLB.
Adrian Del Castillo delivered the key blast, a 420-foot, two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning off Orioles right-hander Tyler Wells. Del Castillo drove in five runs on Sunday to finish the road trip with 10 RBIs, providing needed production in the middle of an injury-riddled lineup.

Ildemaro Vargas — who extended his hitting streak to 12 games to start the year — doubled and scored on a Nolan Arenado single for the insurance run, and Juan Morillo stranded the ghost runner to earn the save.
All nine Diamondbacks hitters recorded knocks, with multi-hit games from Corbin Carroll, Del Castillo, Vargas and Arenado. Carroll hit two doubles and Del Castillo also tripled in two runs on a fly ball that ricocheted off left fielder Weston Wilson’s glove in the third inning.
Ketel Marte returned to the lineup as the designated hitter after missing Tuesday’s game with lower back tightness and went 1-for-5 with a bunt single and run scored.
Arizona’s bullpen accounted for five innings and one earned run, a difficult assignment at the end of a long stretch with no off days. Closer Paul Sewald was evidently not available.
Taylor Clarke and Ryan Thompson pushed the game to extras with scoreless eighth and ninth innings, respectively. Starter Eduardo Rodriguez had his least effective outing of the year at five innings and four runs — two from Jeremiah Jackson’s third home run of the series. Rodriguez’s ERA rose to 1.96.
All players on the field wore the No. 42 to honor Jackie Robinson Day, as every year on April 15, teams commemorate the anniversary of the most important major league debut of all-time.
Diamondbacks start 6-game homestand
The Diamondbacks continue their slate of American League opponents, as they will host the Toronto Blue Jays for three games, starting on Friday. The Chicago White Sox will enter Chase Field the following Tuesday.
Arizona’s starting rotation for its weekend series against Toronto in order is Michael Soroka, Zac Gallen and Ryne Nelson.
