Three individuals are facing charges after they allegedly abducted a child from suburban Joliet and transported him to Missouri.
According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, the child’s mother, identified as Devetta Davis, picked up the child from his home in Joliet under “false pretenses.”
She then transported him to Missouri according to police, accompanied by two other suspects identified as Raven Johnson and Karon Nabors, police said.
The U.S. Marshals Service, in coordination with the Will County Sheriff’s Office, located Davis and the child at a residence in Sedalia, Missouri, and were able to take the three suspects into custody on Monday, police said.
Davis has an extensive criminal record according to law enforcement, with more than a dozen convictions. She no longer had custody of the child at the time of the abduction, according to police.
She was arrested along with Johnson and Nabors, and all three are awaiting extradition back to Will County to face charges in the case.
The child was unharmed, and was returned to the custody of his father, according to authorities.
