IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — The Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District says heavy rainfall in March caused the landslide in Irondequoit that forced at least one family out of their home.

The conservation district says several rounds of heavy rain in March saturated the ground, and the storm at the end of the month, which caused flooding, caused the slope to collapse. Erosion around the creek below the embankment over time also contributed.
