— Chicago Bears (@ChicagoBears) April 14, 2026Number Updates For Chicago Bears Players (New and Old)
I went through Pro Football Reference’s uniform number history page to check on the history of these numbers. It was a journey down memory lane for some of these, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Safety Coby Bryant, No. 2 — Bryant wore No. 8 throughout his four-year tenure with the Seattle Seahawks, but couldn’t wear it upon arrival in Chicago because Bears kicker Cairo Santos is already rocking with it. Sometimes, you see players work out a deal for a new number, but that didn’t happen here. I thought Bryant might go to No. 24, but he instead will move ahead with a new number, which was last worn by standout receiver DJ Moore.
Linebacker Devin Bush, No. 12 — Since this site’s inception in 2017, we’ve witnessed wide receivers Markus Wheaton (2017), Allen Robinson (2018-21), Velus Jones Jr. (2022-24), and Devin Duvernay (2025) wear No. 12. So a linebacker wearing it is going to be weird at first and will certainly take some time getting used to seeing. Even still … that number will always be associated with Erik Kramer (1994-98) and Josh McCown (2013) when it comes to Bears players.
Wide receiver Kalif Raymond, No. 14 — This is the fourth consecutive year in which someone different will wear this number. Raymond follows fellow wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus (2025), who followed tight end Gerald Everett (2024), who wore it after quarterback Nathan Peterman (2022-23).
Defensive back Cam Lewis, No. 21 — This is the sixth consecutive year in which someone different will wear this particular number. Running back Travis Homer wore it last year. But before him, it was worn by cornerback Jaylon Jones (2024), running backs D’Onta Foreman (2023) and Darrynton Evans (2022), as well as defensive back Xavier Crawford (2021). Cornerback Donnell Woolford, one of my first favorite Bears players growing up, wore the number from 1989-1996 — including during his 1993 Pro Bowl campaign.
Center Garrett Bradbury, No. 67 — Chicago’s new center grabs a number that hasn’t been worn by a player who garnered significant playing time since Dan Feeney wore it in 2023. Using Pro Football Reference’s Approximate Value metric (which is a catch-all stat that tries to give a player’s production some context), offensive lineman Jerry Fontenot (1989-96) is the most accomplished player to wear this number with the Bears.
Offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr., No. 71 — Wills takes this number from Ryan Bates, who wore it in 2024 and 2025. The best player to wear this number for Chicago’s football team was James “Big Cat” Williams, a converted defensive tackle who became a nine-year starter at right tackle and was a Pro Bowler in 2001.

Defensive tackle Kentavius Street, No. 93 — Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Xavier Carlton wore the number last year. The last truly productive player to wear it was Justin Jones, a defensive tackle who was the team’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award recipient in 2023.
Defensive tackle James Lynch, No. 97 — Lynch inherits the number from Andrew Billings, a fan favorite who wore the number from 2023-25. The Bears have had some fun players wear this number, including Willie Young (2014-17) and Chris Zorich (1991-97). Do you remember Taco Charlton playing for the Bears? Better yet, did you remember that he wore No. 97 in 2022?
RETURNING BEARS PLAYERS WITH NEW NUMBERS
Linebacker Jack Sanborn, No. 57 — An old friend gets his number back:

A number mostly associated with Robbie Gould (2005-15) and Jim McMahon (1982-88) will now be worn by a player who caught one of the most important touchdowns of the 2025 season. This will be Walker’s third different number since joining the Bears in 2025, having previously worn 10 (in the preseason) and 20 (during the regular season).
Linebacker Nephi Sewell, No. 45 — With brother Noah Sewell wearing 44, it makes sense that Nephi wears 45.
Other Bears with new numbers: Running back Deion Hankins (36), long snapper Luke Elkin (47), and defensive lineman Jonathan Garvin (52).
I’m looking forward to updating this post when Bears draft picks and undrafted rookies get their numbers later in the offseason.
