After a second straight frustrating season, our Chicago Sky have undergone some massive personnel changes already this spring. Last week, the club offloaded two-time All-Star power forward Angel Reese. Over the weekend, Chicago totally revamped its roster, signing talented vets like Skylar Diggins and DiJonai Carrington while trading for former Los Angeles Sparks star forward Rickea Jackson.
Now, the club has built out its young core with three new picks via the 2026 WNBA Draft. First up, the Sky selected former UCLA Bruins champion forward Gabriela Jaquez — little sister to Miami Heat sixth man swingman Jaime — with the No. 5 overall pick.

— Big Ten Women's Basketball (@B1Gwbball) April 13, 2026A frisky two-way wing, Gabriela Jaquez paced UCLA in scoring during the club’s NCAA title game last Sunday, a 79-51 decimation of the South Carolina Gamecocks. She logged a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double, while also dishing out five dimes (against one turnover) and a steal.
The All-Big Ten Second Teamer and 2026 NCAA All-Tournament honoree wasn’t ever a marquee scorer or lead ball handler on a loaded Bruins squad, but proved fairly efficient and mistake-free on offense, while proving versatile and energetic on the other end. Across 38 games as a senior, she averaged 13.5 points on .539/.390/.860 shooting splits, 5.5 boards, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals a night.
Joe Camporeale-Imagn ImagesJaquez was sandwiched between two of her champion Bruins teammates in the draft. All-American First Team center Lauren Betts was selected with the fourth overall pick by the Washington Mystics, while All-American Third Team point guard Kiki Rice became the first-ever choice by the expansion Toronto Tempo. It marked just the second instance in WNBA history that a single college program has logged three straight draft picks.
Another UCLA standout, forward Angela Dugalic, was selected within the top 10. Considered by ESPN’s Holly Rowe to be “one of the most pro-ready athletes in the draft,” she went ninth to the Mystics, where she’ll be reunited in the frontcourt with her college teammate Betts. Ole Miss transfer Cotie McMahon joined them as the No. 11 pick, rounding out a stacked first round for Washington.
Two more Bruins, guards Gianna Kneepkens and Charlisse Leger-Walker, were both selected by the Connecticut Sun (soon to be the Houston Comets), with the Nos. 15 and 18 picks, respectively. With its six players off the board, UCLA set a new NCAA record for players from the same school to be drafted in a single class.
Sky Round Out Draft with Lattimore, Morgan in Later Rounds

Chicago drafted Ole Miss forward Latasha Lattimore with the No. 21 pick in the second round, and wrapped up its night by taking Kentucky guard Tonie Morgan with the No. 32 selection in the third round.
“Latasha is an extremely athletic big who can do just about anything,” Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a press statement. “She also brings a long history of playing at a high level. We’re excited to have her in the building and work with her.”
Across five NCAA seasons, Lattimore has played for four Division I programs in Texas, Miami, Virginia and finally the Rebels. This year, she averaged 10.9 points on .482/.319/.711 shooting splits, 6.2 rebounds, an impressive 2.1 blocks, 1.1 assists, and 0.6 swipes a night.
Morgan’s 7.9 dimes paced the SEC in assists last season. She was a two-time All-ACC honoree with Georgia Tech, where she spent her first three college seasons, and was named to the 2026 All-SEC Team.
She also has a knack for clutch buckets. Last season, she upped her marksmanship from beyond the arc, connecting on a career-best 34.4 percent of her 1.7 triple tries a night.

— Chris Fisher (@ChrisFisherKY) January 2, 2026Despite all these accolades, Morgan will face a tougher path to earning minutes in Chicago than Lattimore.
If she makes the Sky’s roster this season, she’ll be competing against seven-time All-Star Skylar Diggins, two-way guard Jacy Sheldon, former five-time All-Star Courtney Vandersloot, 10-year vet Rachel Banham, and 2025 first-round draft pick Hailey Van Lith.
