ROCHESTER, N.Y. — SewGreen Rochester celebrated a grand reopening for its new space on Sunday, marking its 10-year anniversary. The nonprofit, which focuses on reuse and fiber arts, reopened at 560 West Main Street.
City representatives and customers came to the shop to join in the celebration. The president of SewGreen’s board of directors said the new space is double the size of the old one.
“We have a new sewing classroom, so that we can offer many more classes in sewing, fiber arts, embroidery, visible mending which are all skill that people are asking for in our community,” the president said.
Rochester City Council Vice President LaShay Harris said she is excited about the growing trend of repurposing clothing instead of throwing them away.
