24-year-old national record holder Noe Ponti was also in the water this evening, taking on the men’s 200m butterfly final.

Ponti stopped the clock at a solid result of 1:56.15 to represent just one of two swimmers who delved into sub-2:00 territory.

Joining him under the barrier was Enrico Sottile, who nabbed 1:59.12 as the silver medalist. Ilan Gagnebin bagged the bronze in 2:00.37.

Ponti’s lifetime best remains at the 1:54.14 Swiss standard he notched at the 2024 Olympic Games. There in Paris, that time rendered him the 5th place finisher.

He checks in as the 16th-fastest man on the planet at the moment.

    Additional Notes

23-year-old Short Course World Championships medalist Antonio Djakovic proved too quick to catch in the men’s 400m free. Mattia Mauri was next ot the wall in 3:55.35 and Julio Bernardon also landed on the podium, hitting 3:59.89, good enough for bronze. No woman cleared the 25-second barrier in the 50m free, as Seraphine Hoigne got it done for gold in 25.91. But Hoigne wasn’t alone, as Angelique Brugger touched simultaneously in the same mark to share the top tier of the podium tonight. Bronze went to Angelina Patt, who registered 26.31. Basel Aquatics nabbed the top two slots in the men’s edition of the splash n’ dash, with Balint Ashton and teammate Robin Yeboah capturing respective gold and silver.
