The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mansour Abdel-Ghani, announced Saturday that Egypt’s rationalization efforts saved 18,000 megawatt-hours in the first week, in addition to saving nearly 3.5 million cubic meters of fuel.
This comes as ministry implements a comprehensive plan to rationalize electricity consumption in cooperation with various stakeholders.
Abdel-Ghani indicated that these savings reflect the success of the conservation measures implemented recently, which included regulating lighting in shops and public buildings and reducing unnecessary consumption.
During a phone interview with Extra News channel, Abdel-Ghani added that services provided to citizens are continuously being improved through various service centers.
Citizens are the key element in the success of this system, he said, as they are essential in reducing consumption and achieving energy efficiency.
He noted that the ministry is regularly monitoring the results of the conservation plan and is considering its continuation in the coming period based on technical evaluations.
