Arizona State lands LSU wing Marcus Vaughns in transfer portal

LSU redshirt freshman wing Marcus Vaughns has committed to Arizona State out of the transfer portal, he told On3’s Joe Tipton.

Vaughns is the first portal commitment for the Sun Devils under new head coach Randy Bennett.

The 6-foot-8, 221-pound wing grew up in Melbourne, Australia, where he joined the NBA Global Academy. Ranked as a four-star recruit by 247Sports, Vaughns committed to LSU in May 2025.

He did not appear in any contests for the Tigers during the 2025-26 season and eventually decided to redshirt.

Vaughns will reunite with ASU associate head coach David Patrick, who became the newest addition to Bennett’s staff on April 8. The two Australian natives have a longstanding relationship that saw the wing initially follow Patrick to LSU.

He is also the son of Brian Vaughns, the Milwaukee Bucks’ fifth-round selection in the 1987 NBA Draft.

After losing six players to the transfer portal including center Massamba Diop and forward Santiago Trouet, the Sun Devils have their first addition of the 2026 window.

Boise State junior wing Andrew Meadow is expected to visit Tempe on Saturday. ASU also previously flipped the commitment of JRob Croy, four-star combo guard and son of new associate head coach Rick Croy, on March 24.
