The punk duo Lambrini Girls have dropped out of Coachella and postponed their upcoming tour after one of their members suffered an acute brain injury and neck fracture.
The duo comprised of Phoebe Lunny and Selin Macieira-Boşgelmez announced on Wednesday, April 8 that they would not be performing at the music festival.
"A lot of you asking about why we are not on the @coachella lineup anymore," they began on Instagram. "We have to pull out of Coachella and reschedule our whole American headline tour. Long story short: I fractured my neck and have an acute brain injury."
Lunny sustained the injury in Australia and she was "misdiagnosed, late treatment, doctors orders are I can't fly or perform for 6 weeks."
Lunny added: "Seeing people of all ages, genders and backgrounds come together to mosh, lift each other up, chant, cry, scream in both parts joyful and angry, is my greatest joy.”
The duo expressed that they were "gutted" that they will be unable to perform at Coachella.
"We wanted to be there so badly. If it was a broken leg, I would do a Dave Grohl and play it," referring to the Foo Fighters frontman breaking his leg after falling off the stage at a 2015 show in Sweden. Grohl then performed from a custom throne three months later.
Lunny concluded with, "We hope and pray there's some universe we get to play next year instead," she wrote. "Because it is my neck and brain, our hands are tied for now, but I'm lucky and expect a speedy recovery thank f*** lol."
