Attention, all you household cleaners — especially for those who favor handheld steamers.
The popular brand BISSELL just recalled roughly 1.7 million of its Steam Shot OmniReach and Steam Shot Omni Steam Cleaners.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday, April 9 that the units were recalled "due to serious burn hazard" from their attachments.
More specifically, "the recalled steam cleaners’ attachments can unexpectedly detach from the steam cleaners and expel hot water or steam onto users during use, posing a serious burn hazard."
BISSELL took to Instagram on Thursday to share the recall news with its followers and fans.
"Safety is our top priority, and we have a 150-year history of producing quality products that consumers can trust," the caption of its post reads. "Out of an abundance of caution and in cooperation with the CPSC, we’re issuing a voluntary recall of our Steam Shot cleaner."
View this post on InstagramBISSELL has already received more than 200 reports of hot water or steam unexpectedly escaping from the steam cleaners’ attachments, the U.S. CPSC reports, including 161 reports of burn injuries with a report of one second-degree burn.
The remedy for said issue is listed as "repair," which is why users should stop using their recalled attachments immediately and contact BISSELL to receive free new attachments.
