The 2026 NFL Draft is 14 days away.
Heck, as I write this, we are exactly two weeks from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will be issuing opening statements that will kick off the weekend and officially put the Las Vegas Raiders on the clock with the No. 1 overall pick. Thinking about it in that way really drives home how we are truly in that stretch run period in terms of draft coverage.
Projected No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza will not be in attendance when his name gets called. However, NFL insider Ian Rapoport shares (via Twitter/X) which 16 players are set to take in the festivities in Pittsburgh:
David Bailey, edge defender, Texas Tech Ruben Bain Jr., edge defender, Miami Mansoor Delane, cornerback, LSU Caleb Downs, safety, Ohio State Keldrick Faulk, edge defender, Auburn Colton Hood, cornerback, Tennessee Makai Lemon, wide receiver, University of Southern California Jeremiyah Love, running back, Notre Dame Francis Mauigoa, offensive tackle, Miami Kayden McDonald, interior defensive lineman, Ohio State Kaydn Proctor, offensive tackle, Alabama Arvell Reese, edge defender, Ohio State Ty Simpson, quarterback, Alabama Sonny Styles, linebacker, Ohio State Carnell Tate, wide receiver, Ohio State Jordyn Tyson, wide receiver, Arizona State Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love. Matt Cashore-Imagn Images2026 NFL Draft: 16 Prospects Who Will Be in Pittsburgh
That is an intersting collection of players. Ohio State is the most well-represented team with five prospects who are set to be on-site at the NFL Draft. Alabama and Miami join Ohio State as being the only schools with multiple players in Pittsburgh. With with the Buckeyes’ quintet leading the way, the Big Ten has six prospects lined up for a trip to Pittsburgh. That number leads all conferences. The SEC (5), ACC (2), and Big 12 (2) follow.
WHAT IF THE BEARS TRADE UP IN THE NFL DRAFT?
When the Chicago Bears chose tight end Colston Loveland with the 10th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the University of Michigan product was not on-site. So it’s not as if attendance is reflective of anything. With that being said, I do have my eyes on Ohio State’s Kayden McDonald and Alabama’s Kayden Proctor as prospects who could have their moment with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell after being chosen by the Bears on the first night of the NFL Draft. But the numbers game suggests that Chicago’s first-round pick own’t be in PIttsburgh. Oh well. Their loss. More Primanti Bros. sandwiches for everyone else!
