Last year, King was named a first-team Freshman All-American by numerous publications and selected for the SEC All-Freshman Team after posting a 2.58 ERA over 73.1 innings in 17 appearances, including 12 weekend starts.
King’s 2026 stats make him the clear ace on the staff. In 8 starts, King has thrown 39 innings, allowing just 7 earned runs on 31 hits, striking out 41 while walking 9. He has an ERA of 1.62 entering Friday’s showdown at No. 4 Georgia.
Peterson, a junior, has also made 8 starts. He has a 4.03 ERA over 38 IP, with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 62-to-25.
In the Ole Miss series, Peterson posted a line of 3.2 IP, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out 7 and walking 3. King tossed 7 shutout innings against the Rebels, allowing 4 hits and no walks while striking out 8.
