In 1874, Rebecca Clarke (Bethany Joy Lenz) travels with her 11-year-old daughter to the Canadian frontier in search of a new life.  When she realizes the boardinghouse she purchased is not as advertised, she has no choice but to accept help from local rancher Tom Moore (Benjamin Ayres).

In "Good Prospects," this week's brand new episode of Hope Valley: 1874, Rebecca (Lenz) comes up with a more lucrative plan to fund the boarding house repair after finding success selling pies in the settlement. With the help of Hattie (Jill Hennessy), she opens a mess tent in the prospectors’ camp to feed those panning for gold. Meanwhile, Sarah (Mila Morgan) is concerned that her mother is pulling away from the close relationship they maintained throughout their journey across the frontier. Tom (Ayres) is faced with the challenge of running his ranch short-handed after he discovers his cowboys have taken off to try their luck at panning for gold, and Alexander (Lachlan Quarmby) offers Olivia (Roan Curtis) an unexpected opportunity to promote her artistic talents.
